  • Start Small and Scale: Large organizations might not need to populate the entire CMDB immediately. It’s more effective to start with critical assets and processes, and gradually expand the scope as you build expertise and refine your approach.
  • Data Quality is Paramount: The success of your CMDB hinges on the accuracy and completeness of its data.Implement robust data collection processes and establish clear ownership for data maintenance across different departments.   
  • Invest in Integration: Ensure your CMDB integrates seamlessly with other IT tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or your incident management system. This allows for automated data population and avoids manual data entry, improving data integrity and reducing redundancy.
